HOW TO GET STARTED

New to the hobby? Even if you don’t know what a dogbone has to do with RC cars just yet, we have the experience and knowledge to get you started.

We’ll begin with the basics. Here’s what generally makes up an RC car:

  • Chassis

  • Electronic Speed Controller (referred to as an ESC)

  • Motor

  • Servo

  • Gyro

  • Transmitter/Receiver

  • Batteries and Charger

So to put all those pieces together…do you want to build your own Chassis Kit or start with an RTR (Ready-To-Run)?

Your budget may play a factor here. RTR kits provide the lowest price point to enter the hobby and include all of the basics listed above. A basic builder’s chassis kit will vary in cost depending on the quality and performance of the specific parts you select.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you are mechanically inclined. If you’ve assembled a tricky LEGO, we’re betting you could build a chassis kit as well. However, it does require soldering…and patience!

Keep in mind, you can always upgrade RTR kits as you want to tweak performance and adjust to your personal driving preferences.
